New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): WhatsApp has added a new and exciting feature to its group chats allowing users to see how many members are currently online without the need to check individual chats. This new "online counter" feature will display the number of online members right below the group name. It was first discovered in the WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.25.30 available on the Google Play Store. The update aims to streamline the user experience and make group chats more interactive.

With this feature users no longer need to open individual chats to check who’s online. Instead, they can see the number of online members directly within the group chat interface. However, it’s important to note that members who have disabled their online status visibility in the privacy settings will not be counted in the online member total. This update is currently available to WhatsApp beta users, with a stable release expected after further testing.

Cross-App Messaging Coming Soon to WhatsApp

In addition to the new group chat feature WhatsApp is also working on an exciting cross-app messaging feature. WABeta Info reported that WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.25.20 includes the ability to share content directly with other apps including Facebook and Instagram with a dedicated button for each. The feature also includes a "More" option allowing users to share content on other apps outside the Meta ecosystem.

While still in the development phase this feature is expected to make it easier for users to share content across different platforms. Once beta testing is completed, a stable version of this cross-app messaging feature is expected to be rolled out to all users. With these updates WhatsApp continues to enhance its functionality offering more convenience and flexibility to users in both group chats and content sharing across apps.
