New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): WhatsApp is testing a new feature that aims to make chatting more seamless and interactive. In its latest beta update for Android (version 2.25.9.6), a shortcut feature has been introduced that allows users to directly start a chat with contacts who have viewed their status updates. This update was spotted by WABetaInfo, which also shared a screenshot highlighting the new functionality.

With this feature, users can now see a message icon next to the names of contacts in the status viewers list. Tapping on this icon instantly opens the chat window of the selected contact, removing the need to exit the status screen and manually search for the person in the chat list. This will not only save time but also enhance the convenience of engaging with friends or contacts who react to or view a user’s status.

In addition to this, another small update is being tested in version 2.25.9.4 of WhatsApp Beta for Android. It includes a smooth animation effect while switching between different tabs in the bottom navigation bar. Though currently available to beta users, both of these features are expected to roll out globally after successful testing. WhatsApp continues to improve user experience with thoughtful enhancements aimed at making communication faster and more enjoyable.
