Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab is set to witness another shift in weather as the Meteorological Department forecasts light rain in some areas today and tomorrow, March 20. A yellow alert has been issued due to the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning. This change is attributed to a Western Disturbance, which is currently active as a cyclonic circulation near southeastern Iran.

Rain Forecast for Four Districts

The weather department predicts a further rise in temperature by three to four degrees Celsius. Light rain is expected in parts of Fazilka, Muktsar Sahib, Faridkot and Pathankot. Despite this, Punjab has received 51 percent less rainfall than the average this month with only 7.6 mm recorded compared to the usual 15.4 mm for March.

No Alert for Chandigarh

The state's average maximum temperature has risen by 1.1 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours bringing it closer to normal levels. Bathinda recorded the highest temperature at 30.9 degrees Celsius. However, Chandigarh remains unaffected with no weather alerts issued.
