New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the passing of the Wakf Amendment Bill from both houses of the Parliament, on one hand the political atmosphere is heated and on the other hand Muslims have come out on the streets in protest against this bill. BJP and its allies have called it in the interest of poor Muslims, while opposition parties have called it an attack on the Constitution and have talked about going to the Supreme Court. After the bill was passed, protests are being held in many cities of the country including Kolkata, Ahmedabad. Protests are being held by Joint Forum for Waqf Protection in Park Circus, Kolkata. A large number of Muslim people have come on the streets. The banner of We Reject Bill is also seen with the protesters. Apart from this, widespread protests are also being held in Ahmedabad against the bill. People are saying that they will give up their lives but will not accept the amendment.
On the other hand, after the Waqf Bill was passed, the Muslims of Patna said that they appealed to all the Muslims to be ready to sacrifice their lives against the bill to withdraw it. Other Muslims said that they would also protest and teach a lesson to secular parties Manjhi, Chirag and Nitish Kumar. At the same time, the Telangana State Waqf Board called an emergency meeting and rejected the bill, calling the 41 proposed amendments "harmful to Muslims and aimed at usurping Waqf properties".
