Hisar, Haryana (The Uttam Hindu): A 15-member Pakistani Hindu family, residing in Balsamand village of Hisar district for the past seven months, has been sent to a Pakistani camp in Delhi by the Hisar Police. The move follows heightened security measures after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The family, originally from Sindh Hyderabad, Pakistan, included 3 girls, 8 children, 3 women, and an elderly man. They had entered India on a 45-day visa which expired on 25 August 2024. Despite the expiration, they continued to live on the premises of a private hospital and survived by working as daily wage labourers in nearby fields.

According to the family, they are Hindus and had fled Pakistan due to religious persecution. “We are tortured in Pakistan and do not wish to return. We want to live in India,” the family reportedly said. They had also applied for a long-term visa after entering India but continued living illegally after the short-term visa expired.

Their journey to India was facilitated through a network of well-wishers. Hariom, a Delhi resident helping Pakistani Hindu refugees in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, was contacted by Dayaldas—an earlier migrant from Pakistan who has been living in India since 2011. With their help, this family made its way to Hisar and settled in Balsamand.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian government canceled the SAARC visa privileges for Pakistani citizens and ordered all Pakistani nationals to leave India within 48 hours. Acting on this directive, Hisar Police escorted the family by bus to a designated Pakistani camp in Delhi.

Authorities have confirmed that further action regarding the family will be taken from Delhi.
