Virat Kohli Slams BCCI’s Rule on Families: "Why Blame Them for Poor Performance?"

Bengaluru (The Uttam Hindu): Team India's star batsman Virat Kohli has expressed displeasure over the rule of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), under which players have to stay away from their families during the series. Kohli said this after joining his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 15. RCB organized an event called 'Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit' at the Padukone-Dravid Center for Sports Excellence on this day, where Kohli openly expressed his opinion on this issue.
Kohli said that he was disappointed with the limited presence of family during the tour and being blamed for the poor performance. He said, "It is very difficult to explain to people how important it is to return to the family whenever something serious happens on the field. I don't think people understand how important it is. That's why I am very disappointed because those who have no control over the game are targeted. They are blamed and the conversation starts that maybe they need to be kept away."
Kohli stressed that the presence of family helps players improve their performance. He said, "If you ask any player if you would like your family to always be around you? They will say yes." Kohli further said, "I don't want to sit alone in my room and be sad. I want to be normal and then you can look at your game as a responsibility. You fulfill that responsibility and then return to normal life."
Let us tell you that after the defeat in the home Test series against New Zealand last year and the team's performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI announced a strict travel policy to limit the presence of family during the players' overseas tours. According to the new rule, the players' partners and children can now stay with them only once in each series for two weeks. This rule has come as a big shock to experienced players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as there was no such restriction earlier
