Vadodara (The Uttam Hindu): A devastating road accident in Vadodara has left one woman dead and several others injured, sparking widespread outrage and concern. The incident occurred near Amrapali Complex when a car collided with a scooty, resulting in the tragic loss of life and injuries to multiple individuals. According to eyewitnesses, the car was being driven at a moderate speed when it suddenly lost control and crashed into the scooty. The impact was severe, causing significant damage to both vehicles and resulting in the fatal injury to the woman. The police were promptly informed, and a team rushed to the scene to investigate. The driver of the car, identified as Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, was taken into custody and subsequently arrested. The police have registered a case against Chaurasia under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including drunk driving. However, in a surprising twist, Chaurasia has vehemently denied the allegations of drunk driving. Speaking to reporters, he claimed that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Instead, he attributed the crash to a pothole on the road, which caused his car to collide with the vehicle ahead.

Chaurasia explained that the pothole led to the deployment of the airbag, which momentarily obscured his vision and resulted in the accident. He emphasized that he was driving at a moderate speed of 50 kmph and was not speeding. The accused also expressed deep remorse for the incident and offered to meet the family of the victims. He stated that he was willing to cooperate fully with the investigation and accept any punishment deemed fit. Chaurasia further revealed that he had attended a Holika Dahan event earlier that evening and was not partying or consuming alcohol. He claimed that he was driving carefully and cautiously, but the pothole on the road led to the unfortunate accident. Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Kumar has assured that multiple police teams are investigating the incident. The police will review CCTV footage, interview eyewitnesses, and conduct forensic tests to determine the cause of the accident and whether Chaurasia was indeed driving under the influence. As the investigation unfolds, the people of Vadodara are left to grapple with the aftermath of this tragic incident. The community is coming together to support the families of the victims and to demand greater accountability from drivers on the road.
