New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Starting April 1, 2025, the United Kingdom, Australia and the European Union will increase visa charges and tuition fees for international applicants, affecting various categories, including short-term visitor visas, work sponsorships and long-term university courses.

UK Visa Fee Changes

A six-month standard visitor visa will cost £127 (approximately Rs 14,000), up from £115.

Long-term visit visa fees will increase:

Two-year visa: £475 (previously £432)

Five-year visa: £848 (up from £771)

Ten-year visa: £1,059 (up from £963)

Student visa fees will rise from £490 to £524.

Short-term study visas for English language courses will increase from £200 to £214.

UK University Fee Changes

Domestic university tuition fees in England will rise with inflation, increasing the current cap from £9,250 to £10,500 over five years.

Australia's Tuition Fee Increases

Several Australian universities will raise international tuition fees by over 7%.

The University of Melbourne will charge AUD 56,480 (approximately Rs 30.36 lakh) per year for engineering and AUD 112,832 (approximately Rs 60.66 lakh) for clinical medicine.

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) will charge AUD 58,560 per year for most courses.

European Union's Travel Authorization and Entry System

The EU will launch its European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) in mid-2025, costing €7 and valid for three years.

ETIAS will apply to countries in the Schengen Area, including France, Germany, Spain, and Italy.

Indians will not be eligible for ETIAS and must apply for a Schengen visa instead.
