Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The tariffs being imposed by US President Donald Trump have increased the problems of investors. Due to which the US stock market is witnessing a huge decline. This is also affecting the Indian stock market.

The US stock market witnessed the biggest decline in the last two years during the trading session. The S&P 500 index fell 2.7% to its lowest level since September and closed at 5,614.56. Similarly, the Nasdaq Composite fell 4 percent to 17,468.32 points. This is the Nasdaq's worst level since September 2022. Due to the decline, the S&P 500 has lost $4 trillion (about Rs 330 lakh crore) from its record level last month.

These companies suffered huge losses

During the trading session, the shares of many big global companies including Tesla fell drastically. Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 1100 points at one time but in the end it closed at 41,911.71 with a fall of 890.01 points (2.08%). The world's richest man Elon Musk suffered the most due to the big fall in the US stock market. The share of his electric vehicle company Tesla closed at $222.15, falling by 15.43 percent. Apart from this, the share of NVIDIA fell by 5.07% to $106.98. The shares of Microsoft fell by 3.34% and the shares of Amazon fell by 2.36%.

Indian stock market recent

trade witnessed selling in the IT, media and private bank sectors amid weak global cues. The Sensex was trading at 73,743.43, down 371.74 points or 0.50 percent, while the Nifty was down 104.25 points or 0.46 percent at 22,356.05. Nifty Bank was down 349.75 points or 0.73 percent at 47,867.05. The Nifty Midcap 100 index was trading at 47,872.30, down 567.80 points or 1.17 percent. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index was down 252.05 points or 1.66 percent at 14,946.10.

According to market watchers, US President Donald Trump's flip-flop tariff policy and the uncertainty it creates has started affecting the US stock markets. "Yesterday the S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell 2.6 per cent and 4 per cent respectively, which is the market's reaction to Trump's tariffs and the possibility of a recession in the US by the end of the year. We have to wait and see how the situation develops," they said.
