Trump Orders Declassification of JFK and Martin Luther King Murder Files
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to make public the files related to the assassinations of former President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. He said that the American people have the right to know the truth. Sharing the detailed document, the White House said, "After six decades of secrecy, Americans have to be made aware of the truth. The executive order establishes the policy that more than 50 years after these murders, the families of the victims and the American people are entitled to the truth," the statement said.
The executive order directs top administration officials to submit a plan for declassifying the documents within 15 days. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas in 1963. His brother Robert F. Kennedy was killed in California while running for president in 1968. Just two months later, America's most famous civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr., was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.
The order directs the Director of National Intelligence and other appropriate officials to review and fully release all records of the assassination of John F. Kennedy and submit a plan within 15 days. This is immediately followed by a review of records related to the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. and their full release within 45 days.
Let us tell you that during Trump's first term, he had ordered the agencies to move towards revealing more information about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The CIA, Pentagon and State Department still have documents which they have refused to release. The justification for keeping those documents confidential was said to be necessary for security reasons.
While Trump was president, he agreed not to release all records related to the Kennedy assassination at the request of national security agencies, but during his 2024 election campaign, Trump said he would release the remaining documents.
