Tragic Road Accident: BJP Leader’s Son and Two Friends Die After Scorpio Collides with Stationary Truck

Ranchi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident in the Kokar area of Ranchi early Tuesday morning resulted in the death of three young men and left three others seriously injured. The accident occurred near Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav College when a speeding Scorpio crashed into a stationary truck on the roadside. The impact was so severe that the Scorpio was completely wrecked.

The deceased have been identified as Agni Besra (22 years), Prithvi Sahdev (19 years), and Surjeet Sinku (20 years). Agni Besra was the son of BJP leader Basco Besra from Saraikela-Kharsawan. All the deceased were residents of Gamharia.

According to the police, the accident took place early Tuesday morning in the Kokar area. Agni Besra, an MBA student at Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) in Ranchi, was returning to Ranchi from Gamharia after attending a wedding and visiting his injured father, Basco Besra, who had recently fractured his leg. Late Monday night, Agni, along with his friends Prithvi Sahdev and Surjeet Sinku, set out for Ranchi in a Scorpio. However, near Kokar, their vehicle crashed into a stationary truck on the roadside.

Eyewitnesses reported that the collision was so intense that Prithvi Sahdev and Surjeet Sinku died on the spot, while Agni Besra was critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Three other injured youths remain in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment at RIMS Hospital in Ranchi.

This heartbreaking incident has devastated the Besra family, as they had already lost another son just seven months ago. On August 4, 2023, Basco Besra’s younger son, Anmol Besra, also died in a road accident. Losing two sons in such a short span has left the family in deep shock and grief.

As news of the accident spread, a wave of mourning swept through Jamshedpur and Gamharia. Family members of the deceased and injured immediately rushed to Ranchi. The grieving families are in deep sorrow, and the last rites of the deceased were performed on Tuesday evening. According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the Scorpio was overspeeding, leading to the driver losing control and crashing into the truck. A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
