Tragic Jaguar Jet Crash in Gujarat: One Pilot Dead, Another Injured

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A major accident involving an Indian Air Force (IAF) Jaguar fighter jet occurred in Jamnagar, Gujarat on Wednesday resulting in the death of one pilot while the other was rescued and is currently receiving treatment. The incident which took place near Suwarda village about 12 km from Jamnagar city has been confirmed by the Jamnagar SP, Premsukh Delu.
According to Delu, there were two pilots on board at the time of the crash. One pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft but tragically the other pilot did not survive. The injured pilot is now being treated in a hospital.
The IAF in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), explained that the pilots faced a technical fault with the aircraft, prompting them to steer the jet away from populated areas. Despite their efforts, the plane crashed turning into a ball of fire. A video from the site of the crash shows the wreckage with parts of the jet including the cockpit and rear section scattered and on fire in a field.
The IAF expressed deep regret over the loss of the pilot's life extending condolences to the family and confirming that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the crash.
This incident follows another similar accident last month in Ambala, Haryana where a Jaguar jet also crashed during a training exercise. In that case the pilot ejected safely after steering the aircraft away from a populated area.
The investigation into both incidents will focus on the causes of these tragic accidents involving the Jaguar aircraft.
