Tragic Accident: 7 Dead, 11 Injured as Passenger Bus Overturns — Disturbing VIDEO Surfaces

Quito (The Uttam Hindu): At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured when an interprovincial bus overturned in the coastal province of Guayas in southwestern Ecuador, local authorities said.

The Guayaquil fire department posted photos of the overturned bus on the side of the road, saying the accident occurred at 4 a.m. local time (0900 GMT) on the Guayaquil-Playas highway near the El Consuelo district. The department dispatched six ambulances, two rescue units and two combat units to deal with the emergency and transport the injured to hospital.

Authorities have not yet said what may have caused the crash. Traffic accidents are a leading cause of death in Ecuador, mainly due to speeding and reckless driving, according to officials.
