Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has taken disciplinary action against two senior leaders suspending former Rajya Sabha member and doctor-turned-politician Shantanu Sen as well as Bhangar leader Arabul Islam on charges of indiscipline.

On Friday evening, the news of their suspension emerged signaling the party’s strict stance against internal conflicts and anti-party activities. Arabul Islam, who had previously been suspended for six years before the suspension was later revoked faced action again after recent incidents. Arabul, who won the last Panchayat elections and became a member of the Panchayat Samiti was involved in a heated altercation with Canning West TMC MLA Shaukat Molla. Despite repeated warnings from the party to avoid internal conflicts the quarrel continued prompting the leadership to act.

Meanwhile, Shantanu Sen, a former Rajya Sabha member and former party spokesperson faced suspension due to his actions during the RG Kar hospital controversy. His vocal stance during the scandal was deemed inappropriate by the party leadership. Earlier, he was removed from his position as chairman of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti of RG Kar hospital and subsequently stripped of his role as party spokesperson.

Reacting to his suspension, Shantanu Sen denied engaging in any anti-party activities. He stated that all his actions and statements were intended for the betterment of the party and the government. The TMC’s leadership under Mamata Banerjee, has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward internal disputes and emphasized the importance of unity within the party.
