New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- The Supreme Court judge got angry today when a lawyer hummed. He asked why lawyers come without any preparation. According to 'Bar and Bench', during the hearing of a case, Justice Pardiwala asked, "What is a session case number?" To this, the lawyer replied, "What is this?" To this, Justice Pardiwala said, "Good, when were the charges framed?" The lawyer mentioned chargesheet instead of charge and said that the chargesheet has been filed. The court again asked angrily, "I am asking about the charge." After this, the court angrily told the spelling of charge.

When Justice Pardiwala asked when the crime took place, the lawyer had no answer to this either. The lawyer replied in hmm, to which the judge got angry. He said how can lawyers appear in court daily without any preparation? This happens every day! My brother is patient. I cannot remain calm. During the hearing of the case, Justice Pardiwala made important remarks on the pending cases. He said that we are sad to see that the trial is pending for 6.5 years and only 23 witnesses have been examined. We fail to understand how 23 witnesses were examined in 6.5 years. Even if the crime is serious, the accused has the right to a speedy trial. He further said that it has been repeatedly held that if there is excessive delay, the accused can always be granted bail. Although here we are not granting bail..but we give the trial court one last chance to pronounce the verdict within 6 months. If the trial is not completed, we will seek clarification from the presiding officer. The registry should again notify the case after 6 months for status.
