Terror Threat to PM Modi's Plane: Mumbai Police detains Man from Chembur

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Mumbai Police detained a man from the Chembur area on Wednesday for allegedly issuing a terror threat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft ahead of his official trip to the United States. The police have launched an investigation to assess the credibility of the threat and the man’s intentions, according to a report. On February 11th, the Mumbai Police control room received a call warning that terrorists might target PM Modi’s aircraft as he was preparing to depart for his international visit. Given the severity of the threat, the police immediately notified relevant agencies and began investigating. The individual responsible for the threat call has since been identified and taken into custody. According to the police, the man is reportedly suffering from mental illness.
Prime Minister Modi, who had recently co-chaired the AI Action Summit in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron, was not harmed by the threat. The summit, which addressed global challenges, concluded with a High-Level Segment, bringing together leaders, policymakers, and industry experts. Mumbai Police continue to investigate the incident and are ensuring all necessary security measures are in place for the Prime Minister’s ongoing travels. In the meantime, PM Modi’s schedule includes visits to the United States for a crucial high-level meeting with US President Donald Trump, marking the first meeting between the two leaders since Trump’s re-election.
