Tejasvi Surya Marries Carnatic Singer Sivasri Skandaprasad in Traditional Ceremony

Bengaluru (The Uttam Hindu): Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya married renowned Carnatic singer and Bharatanatyam artist Sivasri Skandaprasad on Thursday in a traditional ceremony at Palace Grounds. The wedding beautifully blended Kannada and Tamil rituals, honoring the couple’s cultural heritage.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal extended his best wishes and blessings to the newlyweds, while Karnataka BJP President and MLA Vijayendra Yediyurappa also congratulated them, wishing them a joyful married life. Surya, a two-time Lok Sabha MP and President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), first met Sivasri at a concert in Chennai. Their bond grew stronger over time with a family source revealing, *“During his campaign in 2022, he attended one of her performances and that moment changed everything. What began as conversations about music soon turned into a deeper connection, and before we knew it they had fallen in love.”*

Hailing from Chennai, Sivasri is a trained Carnatic musician and Bharatanatyam artist. Despite earning a bio-engineering degree from Sastra University, she chose to dedicate her career to the arts. She also holds a degree in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras.

As the Founder and Director of *Ahuti*, an initiative aimed at enriching young minds through Indian cultural experiences, she actively engages in singing, dancing, recitation lessons, painting and even part-time modeling. According to her LinkedIn profile, she has also conducted research on drug-induced developmental defects and has two internationally published papers.

With over 1 lakh Instagram followers and more than 2 lakh YouTube subscribers, her music has gained nationwide recognition. Ahead of the Ram Temple consecration in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised her devotional Kannada rendition, stating, *“This rendition by Sivasri Skandaprasad in Kannada beautifully highlights the spirit of devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram. Such efforts go a long way in preserving our rich cultural heritage.”* In response, she described the recognition as an *“honor beyond imagination.”*
