Superstition Turns Deadly: 3 Killed in Odisha Village Over Witchcraft Allegations

Bhubaneswar (The Uttam Hindu): A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Odisha. Where 3 people have been killed on suspicion of sorcery. In Khalipalli village under Bargarh police station of Dharakot block of Ganjam district, a father and son died in an attack by villagers on suspicion of sorcery. At the same time, the father and son also retaliated after being attacked, in which 1 villager died and 3 others were seriously injured. 3 people have been admitted to Dharakot Hospital in critical condition. After receiving information about the incident, heavy police force has been deployed in the village. 12 people have been detained and are being questioned. According to the information, three years ago, on suspicion of sorcery, the villagers had banned 4 families of the village, boycotted them and beat them up.
Villagers attack father and son on suspicion of witchcraft, 3 killed; 12 people taken into custody : An FIR was also registered in connection with the incident. However, two families left the village out of fear. Six months after the incident, both families returned to the village after convincing the villagers with the help of the police. Since then, there was a quarrel between the villagers and the said family, the result of which was seen on Tuesday night. On Sunday night, an argument started over Khadal Behera's abusive language in the village. During the argument, his son Ratnakar Behera suddenly attacked the villagers with a sword, in which four villagers were seriously injured. On the other hand, the father and son died on the spot in the attack by the villagers. Tension has prevailed in the village after this incident.
