New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips will not be able to play the rest of the IPL 2025 season as he has suffered a groin injury. He has returned to his country after the injury. He suffered this injury during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6, which was played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Gujarat Titans won that match by seven wickets.

In the match, Phillips came on the field as a fielding substitute in the last over of the powerplay. While throwing a throw, he suffered a strain in his groin muscles. He was immediately taken off the field under the supervision of the physio. Gujarat Titans issued a statement saying, "We wish Glenn a speedy recovery." Phillips was bought at a base price of Rs 2 crore in last year's big auction. But he did not get a chance to play a single match this season and now he is out of the tournament due to injury.

At present it is not decided which player Gujarat Titans will include in the team in his place. Already the team's fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has also returned to South Africa for personal reasons.

Gujarat Titans' foreign players currently include England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford, South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee and Afghanistan bowling all-rounders Rashid Khan and Karim Janat. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans have won 4 out of the 5 matches played so far and are at the top of the points table. Their next match is against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday afternoon. After this, on April 19, they will host Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
