Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the state government has arranged special flights to bring back tourists from Maharashtra safely. On the instructions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, so far about 500 tourists have returned from Srinagar to Mumbai. Today, IndiGo's third special flight will depart from Srinagar in the afternoon with 232 tourists and will reach Mumbai in the evening.

26 people lost their lives in this terrorist attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley, including six tourists from Maharashtra. After this incident, panic spread among the tourists stranded in Kashmir, due to which the Maharashtra government immediately arranged for their return. On Thursday, 184 tourists were brought from Srinagar to Mumbai through two special flights of Indigo and Air India. 65 tourists reached Mumbai in the morning in one of these flights. The state government is bearing all the expenses.

Today's third special flight (Indigo 6E 3251) will land at Mumbai airport's Terminal-1 at 5:45 pm carrying 232 tourists. The list of passengers on this flight has already been released by the state government. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol is monitoring it.

He said that more special flights will be operated if needed so that all the tourists can return home safely. The Maharashtra government has sent senior BJP leader and minister Girish Mahajan to Srinagar to help the tourists stranded there. BJP leaders Ashish Shelar and Mangal Prabhat Lodha have been given the responsibility to handle the arrangements at the Mumbai airport.

Apart from this, the government has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. The Civil Aviation Ministry has already issued instructions to airlines to control air fares.
