"Sir, I Killed My Wife" – Man's Chilling Confession Shocks Police and Locals

Hapur (The Uttam Hindu): A horrifying incident unfolded in the Mohalla Rafiqnagar area of Hapur late at night when a domestic dispute turned fatal. Rashid, a welder by profession, strangled his wife Najma to death in a fit of rage following a heated argument. What shocked the police and the community even more was that Rashid himself dialed 112 and confessed, asking authorities to come and arrest him.
The tragic incident has left three innocent children—Samad (9), Shifa (7) and Ayan (just 8 months old)—without their mother. The couple had been married for 14 years, and Rashid lived with his family in Rafiqnagar. Neighbours and relatives are deeply shaken by the event, especially by the thought of the youngest child growing up without a mother's care.
Following Rashid's confession, the Kotwali police led by Inspector Munish Pratap Singh reached the spot along with a forensic team. Najma’s body was sent for post-mortem, and Rashid was taken into custody. Preliminary investigations indicate that the murder was the result of a sudden outburst during a domestic argument. The police are continuing the probe and have informed Najma’s relatives, who are expected to file a formal complaint upon arrival.
This heartbreaking crime has cast a pall of grief over the locality, with many expressing concern for the children’s future and well-being.
