Ambala(The Uttam Hindu): The primary shooter involved in the murder of BSP state secretary Harbilas, identified as Sagar, was killed in a police encounter in Narayangarh, Ambala. The encounter took place near Mulana Maharana Pratap National College, where Ambala Police, along with Haryana STF, engaged in a shootout with the accused. During the confrontation, two to three police officers were injured. Sagar's body was later taken to the Cantonment Civil Hospital morgue.

Harbilas was shot dead in Narayangarh a few days earlier, with two of his associates also sustaining injuries in the attack. The responsibility for the murder was claimed by notorious criminal Venkata Garg, who has a ₹2 lakh bounty on his head. Garg, who had been on the run, took to social media three days after the crime, admitting to the murder and issuing threats to anyone opposing him. In his post, he said, “Anyone who supports or is related to those against me will meet the same fate. I have no links to any gang. Be patient, everyone will get what they deserve. This is just the beginning.”

Following Garg’s post, police initiated an investigation with the assistance of the cyber cell to trace the accused. In addition to Venkata Garg, several other individuals, including Ajay, Arun, Sahil, Manish Mittal, Tushar, Nehal, and a woman named Anju Garg, were charged in the case. On January 27, five of the accused were arrested in connection with the murder. Authorities continue to investigate the case, ensuring that all those involved will be brought to justice.
