Security Breach at Vaishno Devi Temple: Woman Caught with Pistol

Katra (The Uttam Hindu): A case has come to light of a woman breaking the security check and entering the building of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple with a pistol. This incident happened on the night of 14-15 March 2025. The woman has been identified as Jyoti Gupta, who is said to be working in Delhi Police. According to preliminary information, Jyoti Gupta had entered the temple premises with a pistol with the intention of darshan. Reasi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Parminder Singh confirmed the incident and said that the license of the weapon recovered from the woman had expired. He said that Reasi police took immediate action and arrested the woman and seized the pistol from her possession.

SSP Singh further informed that an FIR has been registered in this regard at the police station building in Katra. A case has been registered against the woman under the Arms Act and the police is further investigating the matter. This incident has raised questions on the security arrangements of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple, where a huge crowd of devotees is always present.
