Rs 2.09 Lakh Crore Deal: India Orders 156 Prachand Helicopters to Strengthen Army and Air Force

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India has approved the biggest ever defense deal to buy 156 Made in India LCH Prachand helicopters. This decision was taken in the Cabinet Committee on Security meeting held today. The Defense Ministry has signed contracts worth more than Rs 2.09 lakh crore this financial year. Prachand is the only attack helicopter in the world that can fly at an altitude of 16,400 feet (5,000 meters).

Giving information, the defense official said that this will be the biggest order ever for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The helicopters will be manufactured at their plants in Bengaluru and Tumkur in Karnataka. India has taken a big step towards further strengthening its military power. In fact, this deal will prove to be important in promoting self-reliant India and increasing the strength of the Army and Air Force.

'Prachand' is capable of deployment at high altitude

It is the only attack helicopter in the world, which can fly even at an altitude of 16,400 feet (5,000 meters).

Prachand is primarily designed for deployment in high altitude areas of Siachen, Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.

It is ideal for deployment in high altitude areas. Capable of air-to-ground and air-to-air attack, equipped with missiles, can destroy enemy air defenses.
