Reincarnation Or Police Incompetence? This Mysuru Murder Case Will Leave You Reeling!

Mysuru (The Uttam Hindu): A very strange case of murder has resurfaced from Mysuru. A Mysuru court has come down heavily on police officers for a botched investigation that led to the wrongful arrest and incarceration of Kurubara Suresha for nearly two years. The case revolves around Suresha's wife, Mallige, who was reported missing in December 2020 from Kodagu district. The police had found a woman's body nine months later and allegedly forced Suresha to accept it as his wife's, making him the prime accused in the murder case. However, during the trial, seven witnesses claimed that Mallige was alive, and the case took a surprising turn when Mallige appeared in court on April 2, 2025, revealing she was very much alive.
The court questioned the police's decision to file charges without concrete evidence, relying on hearsay and circumstantial evidence such as clothes and bangles found on the body. The judge expressed puzzlement over the disclosure that Mallige was alive and highlighted serious lapses on the part of the police officers. The court has ordered a fresh investigation and directed the superintendent of police to record statements from the accused, witnesses, and police officers involved in the case. Suresha's father, Kurubara Gandhi, has demanded action against the police officers involved, citing false implication and alleged torture of his son. The court has directed the police to submit a report on April 17, 2025, following the fresh investigation. This case has raised concerns about the quality of investigations and the need for more robust evidence collection and analysis to prevent wrongful arrests.
