RBI to Release New 50 Rupee Note This Month: What Happens to the Old Ones?

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revealed a new 50 rupee note which will feature the signature of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra. The new note will soon be available but the RBI assured that the old 50 rupee notes will remain valid and continue to circulate.
The new note will be part of the Mahatma Gandhi (NEW) series with the same design as the current 50 rupee notes. It will have the same size, color (fluorescent blue) and the image of the Hampi chariot, a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage.
The new 50 rupee note will also include enhanced security features to help prevent counterfeiting. However the RBI confirmed that the older 50 rupee notes will still be accepted as legal tender and will not be withdrawn.
