Ranchi (The Uttam Hindu): JMM Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand Mahua Maji, her son Somvit Maji, daughter-in-law Kriti Shrivastava Maji and driver Bhupendra Baske have been injured in a road accident. The MP was returning to Ranchi in her Scorpio after taking a dip in the Kumbh in Prayagraj. The accident took place in Jharkhand's Latehar Sadar police station area. All the injured have been admitted to Ranchi's Orchid Hospital for treatment. Everyone's condition is said to be out of danger.

It was told that the accident happened on Wednesday at 3:45 am when the MP's son Somvit Maji, who was driving the car, dozed off and hit a truck parked near NH-75 at a place called Hotwag in Latehar. The MP was sitting right behind the driving seat. According to the doctors, her left wrist is broken. There is a slight crack in the chest bones as well. The MP's son Somvit Maji said that she has suffered minor injuries and is fine after initial treatment. As soon as the information about the accident was received, Latehar district police reached the spot and she was immediately brought to Latehar Sadar Hospital through an ambulance. After initial treatment, everyone was referred to Ranchi. The MP has suffered the most injuries.

On receiving the news of the MP being injured, many leaders of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, state government ministers and many others reached Ranchi Orchid Hospital on Wednesday. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has wished for her speedy recovery. BJP state president and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has also wished for her health. Marandi wrote on social media, "Received the news of senior JMM leader and Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji ji being injured in a road accident. I pray to God for her speedy recovery."
