Quick Action Saves Lives: Over 100 School Children Rescued from Forest Stranding
Uttar Pradesh (The Uttam Hindu): A tense situation unfolded in the Katarniaghat forest area of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, when more than 100 schoolchildren and their staff from Gonda district became stranded in the dense forest. However, thanks to the prompt action of the administration, all the children were safely rescued.
The group, consisting of students from classes 1 to 8 from New Standard Training Institute, had gone on a tour to the Katarniaghat forest, with plans to head to Nepal afterward. However, due to the late hour, Nepalese authorities denied entry to the school vehicles, forcing the staff to turn back. They stopped in the middle of the isolated forest near Bichhiya station, an area known for its vastness and dangerous terrain. As vehicles are prohibited in the forest at night, the group was unable to leave and spent the night stranded.
Upon learning of the incident, Bahraich District Magistrate Monica Rani quickly dispatched Motipur SDM Sanjay Kumar to the scene. Upon arrival, SDM Kumar reprimanded the school staff and immediately organized efforts to safely evacuate the children. Working tirelessly throughout the night, he managed to escort the children to safety. SDM Kumar confirmed that all the children, along with their staff, were safely brought out of the forest, much to the relief of the administration.
