New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a bid to promote sports in Punjab’s schools, the Director of the School Education Department has introduced a significant policy change. Students from class 8th, 10th, and 12th who win in the 68th Inter-District School Games and State-level competitions for the year 2024-25 will be awarded additional marks.

The decision, in line with the Sports Operation Policy of 2013, aims to encourage students to engage in sports while balancing their academic performance. By rewarding sports achievements with extra marks, the initiative hopes to foster greater enthusiasm among students to excel both in athletics and academics.

To ensure a smooth process, the details of the winning students will be entered online through the Sports Marks Entry Portal, which is also used for assigning teacher duties in examinations. The department has also clarified that if any winning student fails to receive the additional sports marks, the responsibility will lie with the concerned District Education Officer.
