Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Incidents of theft and robbery are increasing continuously in Tarn Taran area of ​​Punjab. But the administration is trying its best to control it. Police has foiled sensational crimes and arrested two people.

According to the police, the encounter took place on Jawanda Road when the police had put up a blockade in the area. During the blockade, two suspects Mehakpreet Singh and Yuvraj, who are said to be members of the Jaisal Chambal and Satta Nowshera gangs, opened fire on the police. The police retaliated in self-defense, in which both the miscreants were injured. The injured were immediately taken into custody and admitted to the Civil Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Punjab DGP in a post on social media platform X on Friday said, “In a joint operation, Punjab Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) ​​and Tarn Taran police arrested two key associates of terrorist Landa Harike and gangster Satta Nowshera namely Yuvraj alias Jaggu and Mehakpreet alias Mehak after an encounter near Jawanda village in Tarn Taran.”

The DGP said that during the joint operation, the accused opened fire on the police near Jawanda village. In the retaliatory action of the police, two accused were injured by bullet injuries. They were immediately arrested and admitted to the Civil Hospital in Tarn Taran for treatment. A Glock 9mm and a PX30 .30 caliber pistol with live cartridges have been recovered from the accused.

Both the accused were being instructed by foreign masters to carry out targeted killings in Punjab. He further said that two people were arrested while foiling sensational crimes in Punjab. Punjab Police is committed to eradicate organized crime and ensure public safety.
