Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken a big decision to ensure transparency and convenience of the people in all the Sub Registrar/Joint Sub Registrar offices of the state. Under this initiative, a total of 180 CCTV cameras have been installed in these offices across Punjab.

All deputy commissioners have been directed to ensure that each camera functions smoothly. Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Anurag Verma has ordered all deputy commissioners to submit a report by January 31 about the working status of the cameras.

Senior officers at the headquarters level will also monitor these CCTV cameras. Deputy Commissioners have been given the authority to conduct surprise checking at any time through live footage of CCTV cameras. They will be able to monitor the activities of offices through cameras whenever they want. The government believes that this initiative will provide better services to the people and they will not have to face any kind of trouble.
