Pune Rape Accused Nabbed After 75-Hour Manhunt, Cops Deploy Drones & Dogs

Pune (The Uttam Hindu): Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, accused of raping a 26-year-old woman inside a bus at Pune's Swargate bus station was arrested on Friday after an extensive 75-hour manhunt. The accused was caught in Shrirur Tehsil, bringing an end to a statewide search operation. The shocking crime took place on Tuesday morning, just 100 meters from a police station, when the woman was waiting to board a bus to Satara. Gade allegedly tricked her into entering an empty Shiv Shahi AC bus, where he committed the crime.
Following the incident, police launched an intensive search, deploying 13 teams, sniffer dogs and drones. Gade, a resident of Gunat village in Pune had been posing as a policeman for months and has a criminal history, including theft, robbery and chain snatching. He had been out on bail since 2019. The police also announced a ₹1 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest. After combing multiple locations including sugarcane fields authorities finally apprehended him ensuring justice for the survivor.
