Patna (The Uttam Hindu): Bihar Police has ordered strict action against those playing obscene and double meaning Bhojpuri songs in public places. A circular issued from the police headquarters said that this has become a serious social problem. It has a negative impact on the mental development of children.

Action will be taken if double meaning Bhojpuri songs are played in public programs and buses, police has issued order: The state police headquarters issued a circular and directed all IGs, DIGs and railway police to implement this order. The circular states that a special campaign should be launched across the state to identify those who spoil the atmosphere by playing vulgar and double meaning Bhojpuri songs in public programs, buses, trucks and auto-rickshaws.

According to the police, legal action will be taken against anyone who violates this directive under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. This issue has been raised in the Bihar Assembly earlier as well. Two years ago, Congress MLA Pratima Kumari had demanded a ban on obscene Bhojpuri songs. The government had assured that strict action would be taken against those promoting such songs. The government has said that strict vigil will also be kept on obscene and double meaning songs being broadcast in Bhojpuri films and on social media.
