Police Arrest Gangster Following Gunfight, Expose Extortion Connections

Mohali (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development, Mohali Police, in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), arrested notorious gangster Malkiat alias Maxi after a brief gunfight near Ghaggar Bridge on the Zirakpur-Ambala Highway in SAS Nagar. Maxi, who is the handler for foreign-based terrorist Goldy Brar and gangster Goldy Dhillon, attempted to escape during the operation by opening fire on the police team. In retaliation, Maxi was shot in his left leg and was immediately transferred to the Civil Hospital in Mohali for medical treatment.

Maxi, a resident of Rodala village in Rajasansi, Amritsar, is involved in an extortion racket linked to Brar and Dhillon. The gang was reportedly behind the extortion attempt of Rs 50 lakh from a property dealer in Mohali in January 2025. Maxi also has a criminal history with multiple cases filed against him related to extortion and the Arms Act.

During the operation, police recovered a .32 calibre pistol near Ghaggar Bridge, Dera Bassi. An FIR has been filed, and Maxi, along with his associate Sandeep, was arrested based on production warrants. The authorities have vowed to continue their crackdown on organized crime and gang activities in the region.
