The news is that the prices of petrol and diesel are sure to increase because the government has announced to increase the excise duty. The government has increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per liter. This will increase the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.

Right now in Delhi petrol is being sold at Rs. 94 and diesel at Rs. 87 per litre. The new prices will come into effect from 12 midnight. Right now the government is charging Rs. 19.90 per litre on petrol and Rs. 15.80 per litre on diesel. After this hike, excise duty of Rs. 21.90 per litre will be levied on petrol and Rs. 17.80 per litre on diesel. Due to the increased price of petrol and diesel other things may also become expensive.
