Paris, We Are Coming’: PIA Sparks Outrage Over Misinterpreted Message

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan International Airlines is facing a lot of criticism for one of its social media posts. In this post, an airlines flight is shown near the Eiffel Tower and it is written in the picture - Paris, we are coming. Actually, Pakistan International Airlines has started flights from Islamabad to Paris twice a week. This poster was shared on January 10 as part of its promotion. But on social media, people took it as a terror attack on Paris.
Omar Qureshi, former media advisor to Pakistani leader Bilawal Bhutto, also raised questions on the company's social media post. He wrote on Twitter, 'Didn't the airline management check this? Did the idiot who designed this graphic not see that the PIA plane was heading towards the Eiffel Tower, an iconic landmark of Europe?'
He further wrote, 'Do they not know that in the 9/11 attack, planes were used to attack the building? Do they not know that PIA is the government airline of a country that is accused of supporting terrorism. I am speechless.'
PM ordered investigation
According to Pakistani media, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an investigation into the matter. After nearly 4 and a half years, the first flight from Islamabad to Paris landed successfully on January 11. This is not the first time PIA has made headlines in the international media. In 2019, the company had also asked its cabin crew to lose weight.
