Over 30 Workers Trapped Under Debris After Chimney Collapse at Chhattisgarh's Kusum Plant

Mungeli (The Uttam Hindu): A major accident occurred on Thursday at the under-construction Kusum plant in Rambohd, located in the Sargav police station area of Mungeli district, Chhattisgarh. Over 30 workers were trapped under debris after a chimney collapsed. The incident took place while extension work was underway at a sponge iron factory.

According to local residents, the chimney construction work was progressing rapidly when it suddenly fell, trapping workers beneath the rubble. It is feared that more than 30 workers are trapped and several others are reported to be seriously injured. There are concerns that some workers may have lost their lives. After receiving the news, the police and administrative teams rushed to the scene. Rescue operations to extricate the trapped workers are currently underway. Cranes and other heavy machinery are being used in the rescue efforts.

The local administration has taken all necessary measures and cordoned off the affected area, prioritizing the rescue operations. Officials present at the scene stated that efforts to safely remove the trapped individuals are ongoing.
