New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Shannon Atkins of Florida, who made a death threat to US President Donald Trump, has been arrested. Atkins is accused of posting threatening posts against Trump on social media.

Atkins' Facebook update a day before Trump's swearing-in read, "Only one bullet is needed to save America." Seeing this post, the police decided to arrest him. Atkins was caught near Palm Beach on Friday night. At the time of arrest, three bags of cocaine were also recovered from him.

This arrest has been made on the basis of information received from the FBI. This matter is especially sensitive for the FBI and the Secret Service, because last year too, two assassination attempts have been made against Trump. However, all these attempts have been unsuccessful. Due to these incidents, the FBI and the Secret Service have put Trump on high alert regarding security.

Shannon Atkins claimed he was joking when his posts on social media were disputed. But West Palm Beach Police Chief Tony Araujo denied it and said, "It was not a joke. It can be dangerous to say such things in today's environment."

Police also produced other social media posts from Atkins, including one in which he wrote, "History repeats itself we haven't had a murder in years." In a Jan. 19 post, he wrote, "I got banned from X because I said I hoped and prayed someone killed him."
