New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): It has become even easier to add your spouse's name in your passport. Earlier, marriage registration and marriage certificate were required for this, but now you will be able to add your spouse's name in your passport without this.

The option of Annexure J has been given by the Ministry of External Affairs. Now you can go to Annexure J and upload your wedding photo or any other joint photo with both of you. This will be accepted as a certificate. Usually, registering marriages is a complicated process and people keep it pending for years to avoid it. Then whenever there is a need for a job transfer or passport etc., they have to face problems. Now the Ministry of External Affairs has completely removed the problem of adding the name of the husband or wife in the passport.

Here it has to be mentioned that they are together as a married couple. Apart from this, the applicant has to tell that the passport should be issued only after including the name of his or her husband or wife. Under the option given in Annexure J, signature has to be done along with the joint photograph. Apart from this, one has to write his or her place and date of signing and also mention his or her name, Aadhaar number, voter ID number and passport number etc.
