New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Police have arrested an assistant professor of NIT Silchar in Assam on charges of indecent behaviour with a student. Assistant Professor Dr. Koteshwar Raju Dhenukonda was accused by a student of harassing her. Cachar Police Superintendent Numal Mahatta said that Dr. Koteshwar Raju Dhenukonda has been suspended by NIT. The accused has been arrested from the institute's campus on the basis of separate complaints filed by the victim and her family.

A Bachelor of Technology student of NIT filed a complaint against the assistant professor. The student also protested overnight demanding action. According to the victim, the professor called her to his chamber and allegedly sexually harassed her. According to the victim, the professor called her to his chamber to discuss her low grades and touched her inappropriately.

In the viral letter, the victim accused the professor and said, "The professor asked me to sit next to him and asked why I got low grades. He started holding my hand and touching my fingers. Then the professor slowly grabbed my thighs. He also started playing obscene songs on his computer in front of me."

The victim further stated in the letter, "The professor touched my stomach and fondled it. I started crying but he did not stop. He asked me to get comfortable and spread my legs properly. After this, he grabbed my neck from behind."
