New Year Traffic Alert: Delhi Issues Advisory, Routes to Avoid on December 31
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi Traffic Police has released a traffic advisory for December 31 in anticipation of New Year celebrations. With large crowds expected, especially in the Connaught Place area, special traffic arrangements have been implemented to ensure smooth movement and public safety.
From 8 PM on December 31 until the conclusion of New Year’s festivities, restrictions will be in place around Connaught Place for all private and public transport vehicles. Limited parking spaces will be available near the area on a first-come, first-served basis, and unauthorized parked vehicles will be towed, with legal action taken against violators. Police will also crack down on offenses such as drunk driving, speeding, stunt biking, reckless and zig-zag driving.
### Restricted Entry Zones
Vehicles heading toward Connaught Place will not be allowed beyond the following points:
- **Mandi House**
- **Bengali Market**
- **Ranjit Singh Flyover**
- **Minto Road-Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg Crossing**
- **Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi Railway Station)**
- **RK Ashram Marg-Chitragupta Marg Crossing**
- **Gole Market**
- **GPO**
- **Patel Chowk**
- **Kasturba Gandhi Road-Ferozshah Road Crossing**
- **Jai Singh Road-Bangla Sahib Lane**
- **Windsor Place**
No vehicles will be permitted inside the inner, middle, or outer circles of Connaught Place unless holding valid passes.

The Delhi Traffic Police has also prepared measures to manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic near India Gate. If pedestrian movement becomes heavy, vehicles will be restricted in the India Gate and C-Hexagon areas, with diversions in place at:
