Massive Fire Breaks Out at Maha Kumbh for Second Time, Several Tents Destroyed, Lakhs in Loss

Prayagraj (The Uttam Hindu): A massive fire broke out again at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on Thursday, January 30 causing widespread panic and destruction. The fire, which erupted at Sector 22 near the Nageshwar pandal in the Jhusi area led to significant damage, including the destruction of several tents. Flames from the fire were visible from a distance, highlighting its intensity.
Fire brigades arrived quickly at the scene and worked relentlessly to bring the fire under control. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The fire, which started around 1:45 PM, caused damages worth lakhs of rupees with many tents completely burned. However, all the people in the pandal were safe as they had managed to evacuate in time. After a few minutes of hard work, the fire brigade succeeded in putting out the fire.
According to a police officer, around 15 tents were affected by the fire. He stated that despite some challenges due to the lack of access to the area, the fire was extinguished and everything was brought under control. Fortunately, no one was injured. Mela police officer, CO Pramod Sharma mentioned that the tents involved were set up without proper authorization. This area is under the jurisdiction of the Chaman Ganj police station and the local authorities will now investigate how the unauthorized tents were installed.
