Ottawa (The Uttam Hindu): Canada's Liberal Party has elected Mark Carney as its new leader, declaring him the next Prime Minister of Canada. Carney, a former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, won an impressive victory in the Liberal Party's leadership election by getting more than 85 percent of the votes. Soon after winning the race for the post of Prime Minister, Carney launched a scathing attack on America and President Donald Trump.

After being named as Canada's future Prime Minister, Mark Carney clarified his position on Canada's relationship with the US. Reacting to Trump's suggestion to make Canada the 51st state of the US, Carney firmly stated, "America is not Canada. Canada will never, in any form, be a part of the US." He further alleged that the US wants to take control of the resources, water, land and country of the Canadian people. Carney warned that if the US succeeds, they will "destroy" the Canadian way of life.

Carney strongly criticized the US healthcare system, calling it a "business" while calling Canada's healthcare a "right". On the issue of tariffs imposed by President Trump, he said Canada would retaliate unless the US promised free and fair trade.

Carney also criticized opposition Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, alleging that Poilievre only “worships the market” and never paid his employees. Concluding his speech, Mark Carney emphasized Canada’s strength and said, “Our strength is in our people, and we will emerge from this crisis even stronger.” He concluded his speech with the slogan “Long live Canada.”
