Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Maninderjeet Singh Bedi has been appointed as Punjab's new Advocate General. The appointment has been approved by the Governor of the state. The Punjab government has recognized Bedi, a senior advocate, who has been actively involved in the field of law for a long time. His appointment is considered a part of the government's efforts to effectively address the state's legal challenges.

It is noteworthy that Punjab's previous Advocate General, Gurminder Singh Gary resigned last night. Prior to him, several others including Anmol Rattan, Vinod Ghai and others had resigned from the position of Advocate General. This led to political leaders questioning the government’s actions. According to close sources of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the tenure of the Advocate General was set to end on March 31, which is why he submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister accepted the resignation, which was then forwarded to Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and was approved by the Governor.
