Chaibasa (The Uttam Hindu): A major conspiracy of Naxalites to attack security forces in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district has been foiled. In a joint operation of police and security forces, 21 pressure IEDs (improvised explosive devices) planted in the Karaikela police station area of ​​the district have been recovered. Out of these, 12 IEDs had a capacity of two kilograms each and 9 IEDs had a capacity of one kilogram each.

Their explosion could have caused huge devastation. On the instructions of Chaibasa SP Ashutosh Shekhar, all these bombs have been defused by the bomb squad. It has been reported that the security forces also demolished a dump of Naxalites in Serengada village. During the search, 55 gelatin sticks used in the explosion were also recovered.

The SP had received information that there was movement of Naxalite squad in the Podahat area of ​​the district. Based on this, a total of 14 battalions of Chaibasa Police, CRPF, Cobra and Jharkhand Jaguar conducted an operation in the entire area. There was information that IED bombs have been planted at various places in the forest with the intention of harming the security forces. In such a situation, extreme caution was exercised in the operation.

Earlier on January 12, security forces had recovered six IEDs from the forest and hilly area between Tumbahaka and Bagan Gulgulda under Tonto police station area of ​​West Singhbhum district.

Top leaders of the banned Naxalite organization CPI Maoist, Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria and Ashwin have taken refuge in the forests of Kolhan area of ​​​​Jharkhand with their squads. Jharkhand Police and security forces have launched a decisive campaign to eliminate Naxalites. The central government has set a target of completely eradicating Naxalites from Jharkhand by March 2026.
