Major Breakthrough: Terrorist Involved in Target Killings Arrested, Large Cache of Weapons Seized
Jammu (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant achievement for security forces in North Kashmir's Bandipora, a terrorist involved in a target killing incident has been arrested. The terrorist, identified as Washim Ahmed Malik, was apprehended after intelligence reports indicated that a local youth had recently become active in the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist group.
Upon receiving this information, the Bandipora police set up surveillance and established checkpoints in the area. At around 7 pm, a young man was spotted walking on the road, but when signaled to stop, he attempted to flee. The police immediately gave chase and apprehended him without incident. A pistol, hand grenade, and 15 cartridges were recovered from Malik, a resident of Gundpora Rampora, Bandipora.
In a related development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed charges against two overground workers, Waheed ul Zahoor and Mubashir Maqbool Mir, for providing arms and funds to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in North Kashmir. The two men were reportedly in constant contact with terrorist handlers in Jammu and Kashmir, using various means, including the internet, to assist the militants.
