Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked state minister Dhananjay Munde to resign. Sources said on Tuesday that Munde's close aide Valmik Karad has been named as an accused in the sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case. In fact, the agency quoted sources as saying that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar met Fadnavis on Monday night and discussed the results of the CID chargesheet filed in the Deshmukh murder case and two other related cases in which Karad has been named accused number one.

CM asks Munde to resign

According to sources, CM Fadnavis has asked Dhananjay Munde to resign from the post of minister today. State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Munde is an NCP MLA from Parli in Beed district. Earlier he was the guardian minister of Beed. Currently NCP chief Ajit Pawar is the guardian minister of Pune as well as Beed district.

Let us inform you that Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Masajog village in Beed, was kidnapped, tortured and killed on December 9 last year when he allegedly tried to stop an extortion attempt targeting a power company in the district.

Following the incident, the State Crime Investigation Department (CID) on February 27 filed a chargesheet of more than 1,200 pages in a court in Beed district in Deshmukh's murder and two related cases.
