LPG Gas Prices Rise: Public Hit from December 1
Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): LPG Gas Cylinder Prices Hiked, Effective December 1, 2024, Bites the General Public Pocket. In a major respite for consumers, LPG gas cylinder prices have now gone up effective December 1. The cost of a 19 kg commercial gas cylinder has now been raised by ₹16.50. This increase has come into effect following a decision of oil marketing companies and it will be applicable all across the country.
Accordingly, a domestic (14.2 kg) gas cylinder now costs ₹836; a 19 kg commercial gas cylinder now costs ₹1,899; and cost a domestic (5 kg) is sold at ₹311.50. In Delhi, on the other hand, commercial has the price of 19kg commercial gas cylinder increased from ₹1,802 by Rs16.50 to a fresh rate of ₹1,818.50. In Kolkata, the price has risen by ₹15.50, resulting in a new cost of ₹1,927, compared to the previous ₹1,911.50. In Mumbai, the cylinder price has also increased by ₹16.50, now totaling ₹1,771, up from ₹1,754.50. Residents of Chennai will now pay ₹1,980.50 for the same cylinder.
Interestingly, there is no change in the domestic (14.2 kg) gas cylinder price that stands at ₹803 in Delhi and ₹802.50 in Mumbai. The hike in the commercial gas cylinder will be most impacted by the average consumer and especially in the wedding season when the demand for commercial cylinders will be more. Gas price hike also adds fuel to the existing inflationary fears, which affects daily living costs.
