LPG Cylinder Price Slashed by ₹45 from Delhi to Patna, Festive Relief During Navratri

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): As Navratri celebrations begin, LPG consumers received a festive surprise on Tuesday with a price cut in commercial LPG cylinders across the country. Oil marketing companies announced the new rates for April 1, reducing the price of the 19 kg commercial cylinder by up to ₹45 in cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Patna, and Mumbai. In Delhi, the price dropped from ₹1803 to ₹1762 — a ₹41 relief. Similarly, Kolkata saw a reduction of ₹44.50, bringing the price down to ₹1868.50, while in Patna, the commercial cylinder now costs ₹2031.
However, there has been no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders (14 kg), which remain stable since August 1, 2024. As of April 1, 2025, the 14 kg domestic cylinder is priced at ₹803 in Delhi, ₹840.50 in Lucknow, ₹829 in Kolkata, ₹802.50 in Mumbai and ₹818.50 in Chennai. The unchanged domestic rate means household consumers will not see any immediate relief.
Looking at the six-year trend, LPG cylinder prices have fluctuated almost equally during the month of April — seeing three hikes and three reductions since 2019. Notably, April 2023 saw a significant drop of ₹91.50, while April 2022 recorded the steepest hike of ₹249.50. The latest cut aligns with past trends of price corrections during this period, offering a measure of relief to commercial users amid festive spending.
