Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Three separate cases have been registered against comedian Kunal Kamra at Khar Police Station in Mumbai. In all these three cases, complaints under Zero FIR from various places in Maharashtra have been transferred to Khar Police Station in Mumbai. These FIRs were filed from Buldhana, Nashik and Thane districts and now they are being investigated by Khar Police Station in Mumbai. According to Mumbai Police, in these cases Kamra is accused of making objectionable comments against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Khar police is investigating these cases, and police officials say that they will take appropriate legal action in this matter. Kunal Kamra has been called for questioning twice in this regard, but he has not appeared at the police station. The police have directed him to appear for questioning by March 31.

Let us tell you that Kunal Kamra was granted interim anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court on Friday. The court granted interim anticipatory bail to the comedian till April 7 with conditions. Kunal Kamra had sought inter-state bail citing his residence in Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, Kamra had filed a petition in the High Court stating that he had moved from Tamil Nadu to Mumbai since February 2021. However, he is a resident of Tamil Nadu. Along with this, he expressed concern about his safety. He said that after the recent demonstration in Mumbai, he is getting threats and he is worried about the matter that Mumbai Police may arrest him.

A non-cognizable offence case has been registered against Kunal Kamra on Thursday. According to police sources, the complaint claimed that Kamra had sung a parody song satirising Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The complaint was filed by Yuva Sena member Rupesh Mishra.

Police registered a non-cognizable offence. Police have already booked Kamra under Section 356(2) (defamation) of the Indian Justice Code. Mumbai Police has sent two summons to Kamra, but he has not yet appeared to give his statement.
